Jamboree 2011

Pictures speak 1000 words it is said so here goes with the first remembrance of the 2011 show.

We had our moments that we would rather not have endured but, it comes with the territory. My Grandparents always used a saying, ‘when the drink is in the wit is out’, how true that saying has proved this year. Unfortunately, it was necessary for one local evening visitor to be finally ejected from the site in an ambulance ordered by the constabulary as he simply refused to be ejected from the site. Apologies if the incident impinged on your own enjoyment of the the Saturday evening fancy dress event. Not within our control unfortunately but GSD Security were stars in their handling of the situation.

Enough of the negative as that was just one small part of the proceeding 99.99% of those present had a stonking evening and, on Sunday another tremendous evening thanks to Rudi’s Message who had everyone bopping the Ska sound.

Fancy dress was extremely varied and I include two video’s courtesy of Mrs Klinsky. Thanks again for your skill at catching the moment at the Marquee.

Our traders worked tirelessly and provided a wide range of goodies for young and old to crave. Sue and family provided a great fun package for the youngsters with their electric carts and laser tag set up. Whoops of pleasure were heard coming from the rather space age black laser tag arena. Bouncy castles were occupied virtually endlessly over the weekend except when the kids visited MR Wacky, Richard Ready of Busy Bodies of course.

Wow, our caterers provided a superb range of food this year from the staple burger and chips via pasties and roast pork to Asian noodle fayre and sweet or savory pancakes or Jacket potatoes…..bet I missed something?

The bar was excellent too even if the cider choice was limited to Strongbow.

Thanks goes to all the tireless effort expended to run the event. This comes from the Committee and Club Members who give up their time free of charge to handle everything from car parking and taking money at the gate to ,liaison with the locals when noise or litter is a problem to running the show and shine, keeping dogs and bikes off the show field etc etc

Planning is already taking place for next year and we have been approached by a stonking sounding covers band already!.
